Indiana Driver Safety Program
Overview
Basic | Mature | Teen | Truck
All of our Driver Safety Programs (DSP) are approved by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and are 4 hours in length.
The Mature, Teen, and Truck DSP courses are tailored to different audiences: if you are age 55 or over, the Mature course is best suited to you; if you are a teen under the age of 20, the Teen course is the best option; and if you hold a Commercial Driver's License, the Truck course was designed just for you!
About the Courses
Our DSP courses are:
- Completely online (with the exception of our DVD course, which is completed by watching the DVD and taking the final exam either online or on the accompanying answer sheet and then mailed in for grading)
- 4 hours in length
- Comprehensive and up-to-date
- Fun and interactive
What's the Difference Between the Online, Video, and DVD Versions of the Basic Driver Safety Program?
Our Basic Driver Safety Program course comes in three different formats: Online, Streaming Video, and DVD. All three formats are approved by the Indiana BMV and will satisfy your Driver Safety Program requirement. All courses are four hours in length and cover the same material.
The Online course consists of text and interactive elements such as animations, games, and slide shows as well as videos.
The Streaming Video course is also taken online, but consists of videos.
The DVD course is taken by watching the course DVD.
The course that you choose depends on what kind of learner you are: do you retain information better when you interact with it, or are you more of a
visual learner? Would you prefer to take your course online or via DVD? Our courses are designed with you in mind. We want you to have the best possible course experience!
How It Works
Get everything done in four easy steps!
1. Register
Registration is fast and easy! Create a username and password and provide some basic information. Use your username and password to access the course as often as you want. We provide an unlimited number of logins.
For DVD Course Only: During registration, you will tell us how you want your DVD to be shipped, choose how you want to take the final exam, and decide whether you want to receive your Certificate of Completion through your account online, by email, or by mail.
2. Complete the Course
Each of our Driver Safety Program courses consists of 4 hours of material. After every lesson, there is a short quiz you must pass to be able to move on to the next lesson. Most people pass the lesson quiz the first time, but don't worry! You can take the lesson quiz as many times as necessary to pass, at no extra cost.
You can complete the course at your own pace: a little at a time or all in one sitting. Each time you log in, we automatically take you to where you last left off.
3. Pass the Exam
You may take the exam online. It consists of 10 questions, and you must score at least 80% to pass. Most people pass the exam the first time. However, you can take the exam as often as necessary without any additional charge.
For DVD Course Only: After you have completed the course, either log back into your account and take the final exam online, or complete the final exam answer sheet that was included in your DVD case and mail it in to be graded.
4. Get Your Certificate
Once you have passed the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. We recommend that you print a copy of your certificate for your records.
We notify the BMV within 24 hours if you complete the course Monday through Thursday. We notify the BMV the next business day (usually Monday) if you complete the course Friday through Sunday. We suggest that you follow up with the BMV within 7-10 days after completing your course to ensure that they have processed your completion on their end.
Please Note: If you are taking a course to satisfy a court order, you will need to deliver your certificate to your court.
