Questions
Are Indiana Online Driver Safety's courses approved?
Yes, all of our courses are approved by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV).
I got a notice from the BMV that I must complete a driver safety program. What should I do?
If you received a notice from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) to complete a driver safety program,
you are required to take action to avoid further penalties, such as license suspension. You must enroll in a BMV-approved course, such as the one Indiana Online Driver Safety offers and make sure that you complete prior to your deadline, leaving plenty of time for the BMV to update your record.
How do I know my county or court will accept Indiana Online Driver Safety Programs?
We are approved in all counties, cities, and courts in the State of Indiana.
Who should complete a Driver Safety Program?
The most common reasons why Indiana drivers complete a Driver Safety Program are:
- You have received a notification from the BMV that you must complete a DSP.
- Your court requires that you complete a DSP.
- You are not required to complete a DSP, but you wish to have a 4-point credit applied to your driving record.
Please Note: Completing a DSP, whether required or voluntary, will only result in a 4-point credit once every 3 years.
Why am I required to complete a Driver Safety Program?
Typically, if you receive notice that you must complete a DSP, it is because of one of these reasons:
- You have committed two or more traffic offenses within a 12-month period.
- You have been ordered by a judge/court to complete a DSP as an alternative to suspension of driving privileges.
- You are under 21 years of age and you have been convicted of two or more traffic offenses within any period of time.
Why should I complete the Truck Driver Safety Program?
The Truck Driver Safety Program is specifically designed for drivers who hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). The curriculum is tailored to this audience and will be the most beneficial for these drivers.
Please check with your court to ensure that you are allowed to take the Truck Driver Safety Program. Your court may order you to take a specific course.
What are the benefits of completing a Driver Safety Program?
In addition to earning a 4-point credit on your driving record and satisfying BMV and court requirements (if applicable), completing a Driver Safety Program will help you become a better driver! Completing a DSP will allow you to brush up on your knowledge of road rules, defensive driving techniques, and so much more! A DSP will also inform you of new laws that may not have been in place when you first got your driver's license.
And gaining the knowledge and skills to become a better driver means that there is less of a chance that you will commit traffic violations in the future!
How does our Indiana Truck Driver Safety program work?

1. Register for the Truck DSP Course
Registration is fast and easy -- only two minutes! You will provide your contact information and create a username and password. Use your username and password to access the course as often as you want. We provide an unlimited number of logins.
2. Take the Course Lessons and Quizzes
The Truck DSP consists of 8 lessons and quizzes. The course is 4 hours long and includes timers to ensure that you meet the state-mandated time requirement for the course. However, you can complete the course at your own pace: a little at a time or all in one sitting. Each time you log in, we automatically take you to where you last left off.
Throughout the course, you will be asked personal validation questions to verify your identity. These are simple questions that you will answer during registration. You must answer at least 60% of these questions correctly in order to pass the course.
At the end of each lesson, you will take a 2-question quiz that covers the material you just studied. You must answer at least 1 of the 2 questions correctly to move on to the next lesson. This feature will allow you to easily master the content and help you pass your course with flying colors! We want to make this process as easy and anxiety-free as possible for you.
At the end of the course, you will take a 10-question final exam. The final exam is comprehensive and consists of multiple-choice questions. You must score at least 80% on the exam in order to pass. You are allowed unlimited attempts on the final exam at no extra cost.
3. Get Your Certificate of Completion
After successfully completing the Truck Driver Safety Program, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. We will email you a copy of your certificate.
